I grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah where I competed in cross country, wrestling, and soccer; I was also a
percussionist for the Spanish Fork High School marching, concert, and jazz bands. I joined the Utah Army National Guard
when I was 17 and graduated from the U.S Army Special Forces Qualification Course 3 years later. I served a mission for
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Adelaide, Australia.
From 1991 through 1997 I served on active duty with the 3rd Special Forces Group and participated in Operations Restore Hope
and Uphold Democracy. I also was assigned as an instructor at the Special Forces Qualification Course teaching Land Navigation
and Small Unit Tactics.
After returning to Utah I became one of the first members of the National Guard to be activated for Operation Enduring Freedom
and was awarded the Bronze Star for my service in Afghanistan. I later volunteered for a second tour in Afghanistan in 2004
and the Philippines in 2006-2007.
I have spent my life in the service of my fellow citizens and I am announcing my intent to run for the 5th District of the
Utah State Senate. I would feel honored if I may expand my service to you.
